Overview: Mike Chiles is a Missouri educated professional contractor, manufacturer, product developer, business manager and public official with 9 United States patents for mostly energy related inventions.


Education and TrainingJune, 1973: Graduated from the undergraduate College at the Missouri University of Science and Technology with Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Psychology.


1973-1975: Two years of study at Georgetown University School of Law.


2006: Honorary professional degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology.


Research and Professional Experience:


In 1975, Mike and his brother Dan founded and operated a contracting company specializing in speciality residential and commercial construction.


In 1981, Mike and Dan started a manufacturing company in a garage to develop, manufacturer and distribute solar & energy saving technology.   Over 25 years ago, they innovated and installed over dozen unglazed solar panel coupled water source heat pump HVAC systems for heating, cooling and preheating domestic hot water.


Since then, Mike has served as President of several sets of manufacturing entities and as a national leader of energy related non-profit industry associations.


Mike’s patents have resulted in over three hundred million dollars in product sales in the fields of hydronic and radiant floor heating.  He was the President of Watts Radiant, a public company with $55 million in annual sales and eight years of growth in sales & profits when he left in July of 2009.


Mike is a founding member and former President of the Radiant Panel Association (http://www.radiantpanelassociation.org/) and a founding board member of the Green Mechanical Association (http://www.greenmech.org/).


Mike is a former member of the Springfield Board of Public Utilities.

Education and Training:  June, 1975: Graduated with honors from the undergraduate College at Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies and a concentration in Government.


Research and Professional Experience:

Dan is a former member of the Springfield Board of Public Utilities.   He is also a former member of the Springfield City Council where he served as Mayor Pro Tem and chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee.


Dan served on the boards of the Ozarks Food Policy Council, the Springfield-Greene County Regional Health Commission, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste District O, the Springfield Horizon Scanning Committee, the Missouri Municipal League Resolutions Committee and the Springfield area Sustainable Transportation Advocacy Resource Team.
